Eto'o admits Liverpool admiration

Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o has admitted 'it would be wonderful' to play in front of the Kop for Liverpool.

The Cameroon striker, 26, has been linked to the Reds in recent weeks, with manager Rafael Benitez said to have placed him at the top of his summer shopping list.

Eto'o insists he is not aware of any approach being made by the Champions League finalists, but revealed his admiration for the club and its fans.

'The great thing about Liverpool is their team spirit - it is very strong,' he told the Sunday Mirror.

'But, for me, it is their fans who win matches for Liverpool because they have so much power.

'They are fantastic. Any player would love to have those types of fans behind him.

'I have played at Anfield in the Champions League quarter-final so I know all about their fantastic supporters.

'It would be wonderful to have that kind of support as a Liverpool player but I really don't know what will happen in the next two years.'

Eto'o believes he will still be at the Nou Camp next season, despite his much publicised falling out with manager Frank Rijkaard earlier this year.

He added: 'I have not heard anything from Liverpool or anyone else. These things don't come through to me.

'I'm only thinking about next season and I will be here next season. But every year that passes things become a bit more difficult.

'English football has changed a lot for the better over the past few years. I've seen English teams playing matches which have been very exciting.

'I love the way the fans in England get behind their team. I respect their mentality.

'They are so positive in supporting their own team rather than, as happens in Spain, being against the opposition.

'That's the big difference between England and Spain.'

Gonzalez and Zenden set to leave Reds

I have mix feeling when I read this news at Liverpoolfc.tv. I think Mark Gonzalez has a lot to offer to the team. He is great young players. He is among the faster player in the team in the pitch. His transfer to Real Betis is 'almost' reached and confirmed. Gonzalez, all the best and good luck!
Meanwhile, I am very happy when Benitez finally told Zenden that he can talk to other clubs. Zenden, I can not wait you to leave the team.
I would like to take this oppurtunity to stress that Alonso, Luis Garcia and Sissoko should be leaving as well. I am sick of watching they play for Liverpool. They do not qualify to play for Reds.
Alonso still 'got face' to come out and speak after the match. Please pack your thing and leave the Reds.
Luis Garcia is even worse than Gonzalez. Now, Gonzalez has decided to leave the club and I have no idea why Garcia is still in the team.
Sissoko, I think alsmot 99% of Liverpool fans do not want to see you in the club next season.

CL Final - AC Milan 2 - 1 Liverpool

I think Liverpool deserved to lose in the game. Neither teams produced quality football during the 90 minutes. It was a boring game with low tempo.
Once I see Zenden is in the starting line-up, I felt that he has nothing to contribute to the team. It was proven as he did nothing in the game. I was thinking why Benitez did not select Abeloa as he has done very well in marking Messi during the quarter final. Furthermore, Gattuso will not be able to produce the same good running like Messi at the right position there. Then, Riise will be playing at the left side. Anyway, everything is no longer important as Liverpool has lost in the final.
What did Alonso during the match? Nothing other than conceded a free kick to AC Milan which they eventually scored from the spot kick. Aggger, what were you doing and how can you let a player runs in front of you?
Then, I was surprised again when Benitez took out Mascherano instead of the useless Alonso when he decided to push forward by sending Crouch into the game. I did in my previous post that the only advantage that Alonso has is his long range accurate passings. However, his passings during the game were really nothing more than a joke. Second goal from AC Milan was mainly due to Mascherano was not there to block the trough pass. I really do not what Alonso can do. He is really useless!!
In conclusion, both teams did not play well and Liverpool deserved to lose the game as they had 2 useless players in the team that night.
